There are enough opportunities that you are able to develop soft skills, hard skills, and other achievements that you will gain for your professional career.
Meet new people
Getting involved in the CSA means you are growing your network. Professionally, you will have ample opportunities to interact with sponsors and other business representatives. Personally, you will meet fellow students and gain friendships that enhance your overall university experience!
Do better in all areas
This will vary a lot by the student, of course, but more free time does not always equal better grades. Being involved will require some organization and time management on the part of the student — and that’s a good thing.
Get out of your comfort zone
A failure is only a failure where there is no lesson learned. While the CSA is a not-for-profit organization, and responsibilities for Council positions are of importance to the success of the CSA, this is a safe opportunity to try new things. Applying concepts from the classroom, collaborating with people you would have never worked with before, and bringing forward ideas that challenge the status quo are all encouraged.
Do good while doing well
Getting involved with the CSA means you have the opportunity to make a difference within the Asper School, the University of Manitoba, and the greater community. Whether it’s individually or at a team-level, CSA Council Members are all a part of creating a legacy. How will you leave your mark?
