After meetings with a mediator over the weekend, the University Administration and the University of Manitoba Faculty Association (UMFA) were unable to agree upon a new Collective Bargaining Agreement. As of now, members of UMFA will be going on strike at 7:00 AM tomorrow (Tuesday, November 1st, 2016).
What does this mean for you:
As not all course instructors at the University of Manitoba are members of UMFA, some, but not all of your classes may or may not be cancelled. If your instructor has not stated in class whether or not they will be participating in the strike, you can find out if your class will continue by clicking here. The status of your classes could change at anytime, so be sure to check back often during the strike. Additionally, be sure to check your U of M Student Email regularly for updates from the University.
Picket lines outside campus will cause traffic delays
This will affect people who are driving and taking public transit. We advise students leave 30 minutes to an hour earlier in order to ensure they are on time for class, or take an earlier bus.
